STAND-ALONE AND NETWORKED
CONFIGURATIONS

Stand-Alone
Configuration
|
|
| |
In a small Facility,
there may be only one Workstation Program connected with the Server
Program, usually on a stand-alone PC. This configuration is illustrated
below:

Networked
Configuration
|
|
| |
In a large Facility, where the distances
between Buildings are great and where many people may be involved
with the inventory and Assets, it makes sense to have several copies
of the WorkStation Program Software, each on a different PC. They
all connect through a local area network (LAN) to the same Server
Software. Wherever a person needs to work with the Assets in the database,
and wherever Staff need to synchronize their Scanners, there should
be a PC with a copy of the WorkStation Program. This networked system
configuration is illustrated in the figure below. |
